"Arthur"

In a 1981 comedy set in New York City, Dudley Moore portrays Arthur Bach, a drunken low life born into billions, while Co-star Liza Minnelli plays Linda Marolla, a poor working single-woman who lives with her father in Queens.

Arthur Bach is a middle-aged man with no job, no wife, no family but here's the catch; He is a billionaire. He does what he likes during the day (which is mostly drinking) and parties at night. Having no job means he is his own boss and the only person who takes care of him is his best friend and butler, Hobson. But sometimes money can't buy you everything and Arthur is lacking one large item. Someone to love.

Dudley Moore does an A+ job in his role as Arthur. He is funny, the drunk act is legendary and not obnoxious. As you're watching the film you realize that he is the only person who could have played this role. That is, of course, besides Russell Brand. Who oh, by the way, is playing Arthur in the 2011 remake which hit theaters April 8th. Casting as a whole was phenomenal and everyone fit their role.

I would say Arthur is a classic. It gives you everything you look for in a movie. Laughs, quotes that you can say 20 years later, death, and last but not least a love story. Will Arthur find love and someone to share his billions with? I guess you'll have to see for yourself.

Unbreakable

Today there was a horrific plane crash in Libya. Everyone on board died (103) except for one. One little boy, 10 years old, was the only survivor of this crash. The story has been on headlines all over the world today and this boy will be famous for a little while at least. It reminds me of the movie Unbreakable. A film starring Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson in which Bruce Willis character is the only survivor of a train wreck where over 300 people die. It turns out that he has some super power that he himself is "unbreakable". Thats beside the point though. What I'm getting at is you would have to be thrilled to be the lone survivor of a terrible accident like this and have your life spared. But i'd be thinking why me? what did i do to get to survive? is it a sign im suppose to do something in life or is it just pure luck?

If i were in this boys situation, i would definitely feel like yes this is Gods way of blessing me. That there is a reason that i am suppose to be here because obviously God wanted me to. It would be hard and very emotional to go through this. Especially if the boy lost his family. So i would take it as a blessing more than anything else, how would you?

Strasburg

The Washington Nationals drafted Stephen Strasburg with the first pick of the 2009 MLB draft hoping that he would be the savior of their so far horrid franchise. Their was a lot of talk on whether the Nats would have him skip all of the farm system and go straight to the big leagues. This has been done maybe only once. They decided not to and start him in Double A ball. In his appearances there, he has been spectacular which makes us all think when will Stephen Strasburg be in the bigs?

I believe that Strasburg should definitely be up by now. I think he actually should have started in the bigs. i know that would have been a little far of a stretch but this team needs something to be excited about. His demand and velocity on his ball are like nothing we have seen before. Strasburg should be in the bigs now..what do you think?

LeBron

LeBron James injured his right elbow in last nights series clinching win against the Chicago Bulls. The play where he got injured did not look to be anything serious from a fans eye. The elbow started to hurt him so bad that he could not move it and ended up shooting a late game free throw with his left hand that could have put the game in jeopardy. Im not LeBron, i dont know how bad his elbow was hurting him but was it that serious? Did he really have to draw that much attention to himself?

I am a LeBron fan. Im not Shaun Heinzelman type fan but i am a fan. I dont claim i am a "witness" but none the less LeBron is an exceptional player. Along with being an exceptional player, we all know that LeBron loves the attention. He loves the spotlight and thrives on it. I think that although his elbow may have been bothering him, i dont think the whole left handed free throw was necessary. There have been guys who have played with much worse injuries than that. I think LeBron sometimes gets bored because he is so good and he likes to mix it up a bit and bring some more drama into it by adding an injury or a half court shot here and there. This may be far fetched but its just my opinion..whats yours?

New cell phone alerts

In this era of worrying about nuclear bomb attacks and threats dont worry, your cell phone might save you. Recently, the Department of Homeland Security has began talks of 'nextgen' phones that will alert their users of when nuclear chemical threats are in the area. The directors of the nextgen program say the 80 % of prototype phones would have this device inserted into them.

I believe this could be a very useful item to have for our safety but i also think it could be a giant waste of money. Although it is a very high and serious threat of a nuclear attack, the chances of it happening are few and far between. Thats just my opinion...what do you think?

Popes Problems

Throughout the years, priests that belong to the Catholic faith have been accused and suspected of child molestation. Its put a skid mark on the Catholic faith and the way we do things. April of 2010 has really brought the accusations to the next level. During Holy Week is when the news really started to go public and over the weekend Pope Benedict gave a response to all of the accusations. He had tears in his eyes when he promised the Vatican would do better at protecting their youth.

I think that without a doubt these sex abuse accusations bring down the Catholic faith. The Catholics have always been a religion that gets made fun of and stereotyped a lot and now with this, it just gives every person in the world new ammunition. It leaves a bad mark on us, priests, bishops, any Catholic and its a shame it had to happen. But hopefully with the promise of Pope Benedict, we can clean up our image and put the Catholic faith back on top.

spring break sorrow

on holy thursday night this past weekend, a star recruit for the Notre Dame fighting irish football team died in a Spring Break tragedy. Matt James, a senior at St. Xavier academy in Cincinnati Ohio, fell off the balcony of a third story hotel room in Panama City Beach, Florida. He died on impact and his funeral will be this week. He was intoxicated as he leaved over the edge and fell.

Spring Break can be such a blast but so much trouble can come from it. The stupidity of how high school and college kids act on these trips is insane. They feel invincible and like nothing can affect them down there. This young man Matt James had so much promise. A great student and a great kid heading to a great school to play football. He had such a promising life ahead of him and it ended in such a short and tragic way. On Spring Break, the Florida area cops should step up their patrol and crack down on people with alcohol to save tragedies like this from happening
